Frederick Goff was born December 15, 1858, in Illinois, and died December 14, 1858. March 1923 in Cleveland.
The first community foundation was established in 1914 in Cleveland (USA). Banker Frederick Goff noticed that there were many small funds lying in local banks that were earmarked for specific charities, but that many of them were lying fallow because their purpose was no longer current. He came up with the idea that the small funds could be merged into one multi-purpose fund for Cleveland and the world’s first community foundation was born.
Even after more than 100 years, our foundation still operates on the same principle, the principle of fund management. We administer over 20 of them and the number is growing every year.
If you are thinking about setting up your own charitable fund with our foundation, please contact Kateřina Valešová, the director of the foundation, and arrange a meeting.
